This research aims to construct criteria for granting Quranic Ijazah (Sanad), and to measure the extent of their application in Java Island, Indonesia. These criteria are discussed through the research mechanisms and their applied and field methods to reach the theoretical and applied mechanisms that can be measured and verified. This study shed light on the urgent need to build criteria for granting Qur’anic Ijazah inthe reality of contemporary Quranic education.

The importance of the research lays down scientific and practical frameworks for the Qur’anic Ijazah and methods of granting it is based on ancient and contemporary scholastic statements in this art. The researcher chose the inductive approach by examining what scholars wrote about the Qur’anic Ijazah and their recommendations. Also, the analytical approach to discuss the opinions of scholars and analyze the study, by using questionnaire, interviews, and field study to verify the construction of standards and the extent of their application.

The research included the Quranic Ijazah`s meaning, implications, legal foundation, history, conditions, and ethics. The research also dealt with the emergence of Quranic education on Java Island and also the curricula, methods,and Quranic Ijazah with its existing evidence, besides the ten most famous institutes that grant Ijazah and support in it. One of the most prominent research features is that it focuses on creating the Quranic Ijazah`s standards, based on what scholars and researchers have mentioned in the past and present.
